Chapter 8. MPLS TE Management

This chapter covers the following topics:

• MPLS LSR MIB

• MPLS TE MIB

The earlier chapters showed you how you can configure and manage MPLS TE using the CLI. Chapter 10, "MPLS TE Deployment Tips," covers some aspects of measurement and accounting that are useful for an MPLS TE-based network. This chapter covers the SNMP-based management available for MPLS that is useful for MPLS TE. Two topics are covered here:

• MPLS LSR Management Information Base (MIB)

• MPLS TE MIB

The LSR MIB is based on the IETF draft-ietf-mpls-lsr-mib, and the TE MIB is based on draft-ietf-mpls-te-mib, both of which are on their way to becoming RFCs.

A basic understanding of SNMP and MIBs is a prerequisite for understanding the underlying details of the LSR and the TE MIBs and their use. Using SNMP to manage your network is outside the scope of this discussion. See Appendix B,"CCO and Other References," for details on SNMP basics.
